Good Afternoon Parents, students, and staff,

This is Joycelyn Cassidy, Principal of HCMS, and I am bringing you our weekly TAPPN Report for the two week of May 15 to May 27.  All information shared in this report is also posted on the school website.

Parents, please remember to update your residential information if you have moved within our district this year, or are planning on moving over the summer.  The school will need a proof of residence provided to the office.  The proof must come in the form of a current electric or water bill.  Students will not receive their end of the year report card or other important mailings if we do not have the correct address entered in the OCS system.

Spring Picture packets were distributed to students on Friday.  Parents please review the pictures and select the size packet that you would like.  Send the money and/or unwanted pictures back to the school.  Please make checks out to Strawbridge and return to the school by Tuesday, May 30.

The athletic department will host the first Parent Athletic Meeting that is required for any student wanting to play on any sports team at HCMS for the 2017-18 school year.  This meeting is required every year.  We are hosting two sessions.  The first session will be held on Tuesday, May 16, the second session will be held on Thursday, May 18.  Both sessions will begin at 6:30 in the gym.  You only need to attend one session.   I would also like to share that WOHS will be hosting a free physical clinic on the afternoon of May 18, from 4:00-6:00.

HCMS cheer tryouts are scheduled for May 22 to May 26.  In order for students to tryout, parents and students will need to attend the required parent meeting, and students must have a physical and signed concussion form on file.

Interviews for those students that are interested in trying out for WO cheerleading will be held on June 1 at 3:30 in room 404 at WOHS.  Tryouts will be held on Saturday, June 3 beginning at 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM in the WOHS gym.

The HCMS music departments would like to invite you to our next set of Spring Concerts.  Our choral concert is scheduled for May 16 and our Orchestra concert is scheduled for May 18.  Start time for both events is 7:00 PM.  All performances will be held in the Earl Taylor Performing Arts Center at White Oak High School and admission at the door is $3.00.  Children age 10 and younger are free.

NCFE and EOG assessments begin May 30 through June 5th.  CTE assessments will take place on June 7 and June 8.  Parents it is imperative that students arrive to school on time, have had a good breakfast and plenty of sleep the night before.  Assessments will begin as early as 7:15.  Students that do not arrive on time will have to take the assessments during the makeup windows, June 1st to June 9th.  We would also like to ask that you remind your child about charging their device fully the night before the assessments.  All assessments are now taken online.

We are also looking for volunteers to proctor for the exams.   This would be a great way to support our school. We will need proctors from 7:00 -12:00 during the testing week.  We need more than 45 proctors each day.  Volunteers may work one day or several.  Any time you can give would be greatly appreciated. A light breakfast of muffins and pastries will be provided each morning.

The 2017 Athletic Recognition is scheduled for May 25, 5:00 PM.  Invitations were sent home with athletes and we are requesting the RSVP by May 17.  The cost per family unit is $7.00.

Yearbooks are on their way.  They will be distributed to students that have pre-ordered on Thursday May 18.  If you would like to pre-order before May 17, you may bring in your $30.00 to Ms. Perritt before or during tutorial or after school.  All other sales will take place beginning Friday, May 19.  Remaining yearbooks will be sold first come, first serve and no holds will be allowed.
