Good Afternoon Parents, students, and staff,

This is Joycelyn Cassidy, Principal of HCMS, and I am calling you with the TAPPN report for 11/27 to 12/08. Anything printed in this report is also included on the website.

Congratulations to the following 3 students who received an Excellent Rating at the NCMEA Eastern Region Solo and Ensemble at UNCW. They are: Savanna E, Kate K, and Riany P. Great Work students.

Shout out to Ms. Cunningham and Ms. Hamm for their time and success with our Hurricane Relief Talent show that was presented last month. With the efforts of the teachers, students that performed and wonderful donations, HCMS was able to raise $800.00 for the Fred Wilde Elementary School, A Leader in Me school, in Sebring Florida. We are very proud of the success of our you leaders as they showcase their gifts and talents.

HCMS is sponsoring a Giving Trees for Christmas this year. If you would like to buy a present for one of our students, please visit our main office and choose a snowman from the tree. If you have already chosen a snowman, please remember to bring in your unwrapped gifts along with the snowman to the main office by 12/15.

The PBIS committee is still looking for volunteers to help with our school store every other Friday. If you can help, please contact Ms. Morris.

Congratulations to our cheerleaders for the great job at the Conference Cheerleading competition last Saturday. They placed 2nd in the overall results. We are really proud of all their hard work.

Basketball tryouts begin 12/11. In order to tryout, parents must have attend the required district parent athletic meeting, have a physical and concussion form on file and meet academic and attendance eligibility requirements. Please see Coach L. Jones and Coach Wigfall for information.

We still have a few CandyMan orders that need to be picked up. Please contact the school to arrange for getting your items. The Glow Party and Limo lunch is scheduled for 12/12.

· AVID and Multicultural Night: 12/06

· Home Soccer, Wrestling and Orchestra: 12/07

· December dance: 12/08.

· Winter Band Concert: 12/11.

And finally, parents, this is a friendly reminder about school lunch charges. Please assist HCMS with using finances for resources and materials be helping us decrease our lunch debt. Charges can be cleared online with a debit card or through the café. Reminders will be sent home weekly via letters. We greatly appreciate all your assistance to the important matter.

Parents, our next Early Release Professional Development day is scheduled for Thursday, Nov 9. Please be aware that students will be released from school at 11:15. Buses will run their regular routes, and walkers and car riders will be released at 11:10. Please make arrangements for your child for this early dismissal. Teachers will be engaged in Professional Development and students will not be allowed to remain on campus.

CandyMan orders are in. Due to the size of some orders, parents will need to come by the school to sign-for and pick up orders beginning Tuesday 11/7 8:00-3:30. We encourage you to pick them up as soon as possible, because the deadline for Candy Man to replace missing or broken items is 11/16. The Glow Party and Limo lunch is scheduled for 12/12.

· On Monday, 11/06, there is a home Soccer and wrestling match at 4:00. Admission is $4.00

· There is an informational meeting for 8th grade students interested in applying for the OCECHS for the 2018-19 school year at 6:00 in the media center. Representatives from CCCC and the Principal of the Early College, James Strope, will be present to answer questions on the application process.

· Wednesday, HCMS travels to SWMS for soccer and wrestling.

· Friday, Nov 10 there is no school due to Veteran’s Holiday

· Away Soccer and wrestling at BMS on Tuesday, 11/14

· Home athletic event on Thursday against DMS on 11/16.

· Conference Cheerleading competition at SBHS on Saturday 11/18. Doors open to the public at 9:45 and admission is $4.00. Please come out to support our HCMS cheerleaders.
