Good Afternoon Parents, students, and staff,
This is Joycelyn Cassidy, Principal of HCMS, and I am bringing you our weekly TAPPN Report for the two weeks of April 17 to April 28. All information shared in this report is also posted on the school website.
A shout out to the HCMS SAVE Chapter. They attended the National SAVE summit at NC State. HCMS was awarded SAVE Chapter of the Year for all of the efforts this year. Our SAVE club participated in a number of activities that range from mentoring the fifth grade SAVE club members at Hunters Creek Elementary to our SAVE members packing and wrapping shoeboxes for the children of the Women’s Shelter during the Christmas holidays. Our SAVE members practice and promote the beliefs of SAVE every day when at HCMS and within the community.
Spring Pictures will be taken on Tuesday April 18. All students that take pictures will receive a picture packet. Forms and instructions for ordering picture packets will be included. If you do not want packets, then pictures must be returned to the school.
Due to the inclement weather on April 6, the new Panther Run date is now scheduled for April 27. Money to participate in the Panther Run is due by April 25.
Its survey time again. In an effort to improve system practices, Hunters Creek Middle School is conducting a Parent Survey. We value your opinion and ask that you take the time to complete this survey. There are 3 easy ways to participate: Beginning April 18th, you can access the link through the HCMS website; or use the laptop that will be set up in the front office while you are waiting to check-in or check-out your child; or you can participate during the UnConference on April 25th or during the rising 7th grade and 8th grade encore registration nights in May. Any parent that comes in to complete the survey in the office will receive a raffle ticket for an opportunity to win a gift card at a local fast food restaurant. Please be assured that your responses to this survey will be anonymous.

Parents please mark your calendars for the following dates. Beginning May 30 and ending June 5th, students will be taking their NCFE and EOG assessments. CTE assessments will take place on June 7 and June 8. Parents it is imperative that students arrive to school on time, have had a good breakfast and plenty of sleep the night before. Assessments will begin as early as 7:15. Students that do not arrive on time will have to take the assessments during the makeup windows, June 1st to June 9th. We would also like to ask that you remind your child about charging their device fully the night before the assessments. All assessments are now taken online. Our PSP will be sponsoring a dance scheduled for April 21st . This fundraiser is an effort to assist with Teacher Appreciation Week in May. If you are willing to assist by providing donations of canned sodas, chips or candy bars, we would certainly appreciate the help.
